Summary: The Wellness Guide is responsible for leading a variety of wellness programs suitable for older adults.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must be CPR certified
  • Life Saving Certificate preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, swim; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk to be heard; and hear to respond to verbal communications.
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • The employee must be able to maneuver in the water (4’ swimming pool) with ease and speed.
  • Essential Functions Testing (EFT) required.
  • A well-lighted and ventilated working area that has its own temperature control system (air conditioning and heat).
  • Some exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste.
  • Appropriate ergonomic and personal safety equipment is provided as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supports their department director in the daily operations, including upkeep of wellness or recreation center, pool and spa, fitness spaces and implementation of wellness programming
  • Maintains the pool, fitness, locker, and wellness spaces to ensure cleanliness and safety of the environment and safety of all who utilize these spaces; May include the opening and closing of wellness spaces and observing or assisting residents as needed
  • Leads a variety of wellness programs that support all dimensions of wellness: physical, social, intellectual, expressive, spiritual, etc. Includes land and aquatic exercise classes, mindfulness and mental health practices, health and wellness workshops, etc.
  • Maintains wellness spaces in accordance with regulations and guidelines established by county and as directed by their department director, including monitoring and adjusting of pool and spa chemical balances, cleaning of the pool and deck area, and documentation on equipment functioning
  • Communicates with their department director and fellow team members regarding supply inventory and maintenance of wellness equipment
  • May lead occasional wellness programs for staff as part of employee wellness initiatives as designed by others on their team
