About The Position

This is a full-time, year-round position that is responsible for the management and development of all aspects of our boutique spa operations, recreational activities and wellness programs at The Otesaga Resort Hotel. The Spa, Wellness and Recreation Manager leads and motivates the staff to provide a high level of service that exceeds guest expectations and maintains the Otesaga’s luxury standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience in recreation/spa management.
  • Experience in managing employees, budgeting, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lead, problem solve, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends & holidays as required.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Set a positive tone and strong work ethic, leading by example.
  • Possess basic math skills and ability to operate POS system.
  • Maintain professional presentation (must adhere to company and department dress code)
  • Ability and willingness to upsell.
  • Outstanding guest service skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed in massage therapy or facial treatments in New York State is preferred.
  • Previous experience developing wellness programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate operations of Hawkeye Spa facilities.
  • Develops year-round and seasonally based wellness programs for both leisure and group guests, including weekend retreats and wellness programs.
  • Direct and implement recreational programs, aquatics and resort events and activities.
  • Boosts employee health, mindset, and productivity through the creation and modification of wellness programs, seminars, and workshops.
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to develop healthy food options for guests and employees.
  • Train staff in the use and sale of products, programs, and activities.
  • Perform regular checks of spa and recreation equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Coordinate facility schedules to maximize usage and efficiency.
  • Develop staff service and retail goals and guide staff in goal achievement.
  • Establish budgets and financial goals.
  • Inventory products and order new supplies.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, or hygiene standards and regulations.
  • Perform accounting duties, such as recording daily cash flow, preparing bank deposits, or generating financial statements.
  • Attend regular operation meetings to ensure department budgets and goals are met.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire employees.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Schedule staff and supervise scheduling.
  • Scheduling Appointments & Receiving Guests
  • Verify staff credentials, such as educational and certification requirements.
  • Maintain client databases.
  • Participate in continuing education classes to maintain current knowledge of industry.
  • Schedule guest appointments.
  • Assists in the preparation of yearly operating, operation equipment and capital expenditure budget.
  • Offers suggestions and makes recommendations on ideas for improving the Spa operation and performance.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
