About The Position

The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for promoting employee wellness, health, and fitness across the organization. This position identifies opportunities to enhance wellness initiatives that support employee health while reducing overall health-related costs. The Coordinator collaborates with Bi-State Development’s (BSD) partners to coordinate services, streamline processes, and ensure effective delivery of wellness programs.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Metro social media platforms.
  • Ability to generate communication materials across various media platforms.
  • Ability to work autonomously and structure schedule to meet the needs of all shifts.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Agency and department personnel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of statistical data and costs.
  • Detailed knowledge of health and wellness programs.
  • Maintains all certifications necessary to provide sufficient service.
  • Minimum 7 years in Medical, Wellness or Management

Nice To Haves

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree preferred in Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Training or related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), or related professional certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with the Manager, Employee Wellbeing Resources to deliver wellness services at all BSD facilities.
  • Assists in tracking and analyzing wellness statistics to measure program effectiveness.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates new programs that support employee health and wellness initiatives.
  • Maintains vendor relationships for employee wellness services locally and abroad.
  • Produces, distributes, and assesses wellness promotional and educational materials.
  • Provides one-on-one consultations with employees on health history, concerns, and fitness goals.
  • Conducts onboarding presentations for new employees on wellness programs and resources.
  • Educates employees on a wide range of topics including nutrition, exercise, disease prevention, weight management, and flexibility training.
  • Reviews health history questionnaires, assesses fitness levels, and seeks medical clearance when necessary before starting exercise programs.
  • Delivers individualized training sessions, demonstrates safe techniques, and creates targeted exercise prescriptions.
  • Monitors employee progress through program reviews, biometric tracking, and program adjustments.
  • Shares weekly health tips, nutrition editorials, and motivational content to encourage employee engagement.
  • Designs, launches, and facilitates wellness challenges throughout the year.
  • Builds community partnerships and promotes local health events to employees.
  • Serves as a primary resource for employee health and fitness questions or concerns.
  • Visits Missouri/Illinois locations regularly to engage with employees on wellness topics.
  • Partners with Public Affairs to create and distribute materials supporting wellness programs.
  • Processes employee equipment requests, coordinates gym maintenance needs, and ensures timely repairs.
  • Conducts biweekly site visits to evaluate gym equipment safety and cleanliness, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Participates in monthly Wellness Committee meetings and collaborates with external organizations (e.g., Business Health Coalition, Missouri Diabetes Council) to keep programming current and effective
