About The Position

The Wellness Coordinator and Fitness Center Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Fitness Center and open gym programs at SUNY Adirondack. This part-time role focuses on delivering impactful fitness and wellness programming, supervising student staff, and collaborating with various departments to enhance student wellness and engagement on campus.

Requirements

  • CPR/First Aid Certified.
  • Interest and experience in mentoring and supporting college students.
  • History of success working independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to organize and track multiple projects and engage stakeholders in collaborative problem solving.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Strong communication, collaborative, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of prior work experience in wellness, fitness, or in a health care or educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to the Fitness Center and Open Gym programs.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate part-time student staff.
  • Respond to user needs for setup, changes, or additional equipment in the fitness center/open gym.
  • Develop and lead Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention programs.
  • Collaborate with clubs/organizations and individual students to support mental health and wellness.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to collaborate on outreach and programming.
  • Provide direct support to the 'Community Hub' for students seeking emergency help and basic necessities.
  • Communicate maintenance and other problem areas to the Facility Department or appropriate vendors.
  • Establish and maintain center and equipment inventory.
  • Assure building access related to the fitness center.
  • Establish and execute preventative maintenance programs for facility equipment.
  • Develop and implement student worker training and safety training programs.
  • Create and schedule fitness-related programs.
  • Help users establish individual fitness plans.
  • Develop and maintain a check-in system to monitor student and staff usage.
  • Communicate operational and general concerns to the Director of Health and Wellness.
  • Prepare reports and complete special assignments as required.
