About The Position

Is responsible for maintaining health awareness, documentation, and medical-based programs in the facility. Performs first aid and other emergency response treatment when necessary. Coordinates the Workers’ Compensation program.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or higher preferred
  • Minimum of two to five years of work experience in the nursing field
  • Good customer service skills
  • Willing to be on-call for emergencies and support
  • Maintain a current license for the state of Utah if an LPN or RN

Responsibilities

  • Plans and maintains budget control for the Dispensary.
  • Prepares quarterly and year-end interpretations of our safety record, along with costs and projections as needed.
  • Proactively walks the production floor looking for and helping resolve health issues found.
  • Coordinates and conducts health training for the management team and supervisors.
  • Coordinates health assessments (hearing, noise, dust, and ergonomic) with third parties. Helps develop solutions with engineering to close gaps found in the assessments.
  • Maintains Dispensary log and documentation.
  • Keeps supplies ordered and stocked per 5S requirements.
  • Manages work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Acts as a liaison for the company with local physicians representing Nestle as the Workers Compensation Administrator for Springville.
  • Submits Workers Compensation updates to management.
  • Maintains workers compensation program:
  • Weekly audits of the OSHA 300.
  • SHEPM entries from the CPAL log.
  • Maintains individual workers compensation files; updates all active files weekly.
  • Updates SHE PM.
  • Coordinates and conducts medical training for the Emergency Response Team on a yearly basis, including CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
  • Assists with the Safety Star Point program.
  • Participates in SHE team activities.
  • Acts as a liaison for in-house local committees.
  • Participates in community health programs.
  • Administers and implements employee health education program.
  • Assists in training new industrial nurses.
  • Participates in the accident review process.
  • Coordinates completion and recordkeeping for the Nestle Springville Plant’s Hearing Conservation Program.
  • Responsible for annual hearing tests of the Nestle factory workforce.
  • Coordinates spirometry program for all Facilities personnel annually.
  • Maintains and updates employee medical files.
  • Maintains Bloodborne Pathogens program and records.
  • Models the Springville Compass in all work-related activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provides first aid care and assesses employee issues and recovery treatment.
  • Completes proper follow-up of projects to ensure that the desired results are being attained.
  • Develops and maintains a professional attitude at all times.
  • Maintains effective working relationships within and outside the department.
  • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and good housekeeping practices
  • Uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the production floor, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Check with the Training Department or the Safety Department for the specific protective equipment required in each area of the factory.
  • Follows proper lifting techniques and ergonomics.
  • Never compromises on food safety and always complies with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Reports quality concerns to the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Recycles all appropriate materials (paper, plastic, food, etc.).
  • Understands the environmental aspects of the position listed on the Dispensary SHE sheet and takes action to reduce environmental impacts by conserving paper, electricity, etc.
  • Understands verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Must observe Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and USDA policies.
  • Must have legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to efficiently operate a personal computer.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally.
  • Accurately paraphrase and/or transcribe messages, schedules, and other information taken from phone conversations, written material and face to face meetings in a clear and concise verbal and written form.
  • Communicate effectively with various support groups, supervisors, and team members.
  • Develop and prepare necessary reports and maintain daily documentation.
  • Must be able to evacuate an area quickly in an emergency.
  • Maintain a high level of professional and organizational ethics and image.
  • Able to read, interpret and analyze computer generated reports.
  • Perform all tasks with extreme accuracy.
  • Maintain a high level of professional relationship with all people in the department as well as other plant departments and outside contacts.
  • Proficient in organization and planning.
  • Must be able to do physical inspections for inventoried items, (i.e. climbing, reaching, extending, lifting) up to 6 times per day.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required by Supervisor.
  • Must become CPR/AED/First Aid Certified instructor.
