About The Position

The Wellness Center Instructor for the evening shift plays a pivotal role in promoting health and well-being among community members by leading engaging and effective wellness programs. This position is responsible for creating a supportive and motivating environment that encourages participants to achieve their personal health goals through structured activities and educational sessions. The instructor will tailor programs to accommodate diverse fitness levels and wellness needs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants. By monitoring progress and providing personalized feedback, the instructor helps individuals maintain consistent participation and fosters long-term lifestyle improvements. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall mission of the wellness center by enhancing the physical and mental health of its members during the critical evening hours when many seek stress relief and fitness opportunities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in fitness instruction, wellness coaching, or a related field.
  • BLS Certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to work evening hours consistently.

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including older adults and individuals with chronic health conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate diverse participants.
  • Experience leading group fitness or wellness classes, preferably in a community or wellness center setting.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down.
  • Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
  • Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class.
  • Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
  • Collaborate with wellness center staff to promote programs and support community engagement.
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are used safely and report any maintenance needs promptly.
