About The Position

The Wellness Associate plays a vital role in advancing the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community by connecting people to their potential, purpose, and one another. This position supports members in achieving their health and wellness goals by fostering a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment. Through coaching, relationship-building, and program engagement, the Wellness Associate helps members feel connected and confident in their wellness journey. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • YMCA-approved Bloodborne Pathogens Training.
  • Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification.
  • Emergency Procedures Training.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide member support through wellness coaching, check-ins, and answering questions related to health and wellness goals.
  • Conduct wellness appointments to assess goals, background, and interests, and create individualized plans for engagement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of wellness trends to share accurate and relevant information with members.
  • Build authentic relationships with members; encourage connections with peers, staff, and group exercise communities.
  • Utilize YMCA tools and resources (handouts, schedules, orientation programs) to increase member awareness of wellness opportunities.
  • Monitor and clean equipment and wellness areas to ensure a safe, organized, and welcoming environment.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and organizational events.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow YMCA safety policies.
  • Uphold YMCA standards, policies, and professional conduct in all interactions.
  • Model YMCA core values and use the Y-Voice: Welcoming, Hopeful, Determined, Genuine, and Nurturing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the YMCA’s mission and strategic goals.
