Requirements The Wellbeing and Health Promotion Specialist will be primarily responsible for leading health promotion programs on topics impacting students’ wellbeing and academic success. This position directly supervises and provides leadership for health promotion student leaders, including Peer Health Educators. Peer education programs incorporate evidence informed health promotion practices. Content includes, but is not limited to, personal health, mental health, substance use, sleep, wellbeing, relationships, sexual assault and interpersonal violence. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collaborate with the Wellbeing and Health Promotion team and the Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Team to develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs, events, and services for undergraduate students. Work collaboratively with the Health Promotion Team and the Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Team, students, and campus partners to plan, implement, and coordinate programs and initiatives for a new campus wellbeing space in Healy Ground floor which is opening Summer 2025. Work collaboratively with the HES Team and student leaders to establish a newly opened Wellbeing Space on campus, planning and implementing supplies and activities for the space, soliciting ideas for programs, setting policies and procedures for use of the space, coordinating events, and planning and maintaining a calendar for events. Lead the ongoing planning, implementation, and evaluation of an informed, inclusive, accessible, and welcoming health promotion and peer education program, while focusing on fun, educational and positive experiences for participants. Help to oversee and coordinate programs, services, and resources for the new campus wellbeing space in Healy. In collaboration with other HES colleagues, facilitate the hiring, ongoing training, supervision, and mentorship to develop peer educators into effective leaders and team members in all aspects of their lives. Collaborate with HES partners and other campus partners on training and implementation. Create opportunities for health promotion student staff to engage in applied/integrated student leadership opportunities. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for students to increase levels of responsibility, develop new skills, and advance as peer educators. Work Interactions The Wellbeing and Health Promotion Specialist reports to the Director for Health Education Services. This position will work closely with the Assistant Director of Health Promotion. One of the four pathways under the DSA Strategic Plan is to Promote Holistic Wellbeing. Many of the goals and objectives under the DSA Promote Holistic Wellbeing pathway are consistent with the mission of Health Education Services. This position will help facilitate collaboration, implementation, and communicate a shared vision of holistic wellbeing across campus. This position will work closely with other professional staff in Health Education Services to manage programs, co-create new health promotion programs and initiatives, and expand peer education. A new student wellbeing space at Georgetown opens Summer 2025 on the renovated ground floor of the Healy Building. Plans include new health promotion programming initiatives and expanding peer education. This position will take responsibility for hiring and overseeing student program workers in HES and will work closely with other professional staff in HES to build and expand the peer education program. This position will work with students and campus partners to collaborate and coordinate student peer support initiatives on campus.
