About The Position

Campus Recreation is committed to fostering health and well-being within our community. Our well-being room provides a peaceful environment for relaxation and rejuvenation. Within the department of Campus Recreation, the Well-being Attendant will help maintain the cleanliness and ambiance of the well-being room, assist patrons, and support well-being activities. This individual must be able to uphold Campus Recreation policies and procedures, support the operations of the well-being room, and assist with Campus Recreation Well-being programing and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to be proactive in decision-making.
  • Ability to positively interact with student staff and patrons.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Complete all required Penn State LRN training(s).
  • Work a minimum of 10 hours per week. Average of three hours/week for department focused work.
  • Attendance/Availability – must keep accurate and up-to-date availability in When-To-Work.
  • Accommodate a variable work schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Successfully complete American Red Cross or equivalent Adult CPR/First Aid after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing exceptional customer services to patrons.
  • Responsible for scheduling and assisting patrons with making reservations in Fusion software
  • Greet and check for proper identification of all guests via Fusion facility management software.
  • Educate patrons on well-being initiatives and Penn State Flourish model.
  • Keep the well-being facility clean and organized, including lounge area, massage chairs, and mind-body spaces.
  • Encourage positive group development by engaging with participants and promoting a culture of respect and trust.
  • Responsible for upholding the risk management plan for student staff, which is designed to prevent injuries as well as prepare students to respond appropriately to accidents, injuries and life-threatening emergencies.
  • Ensure well-being room is safe, secure, and operational
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures of well-being room.
  • Routine and/or special cleaning of equipment within well-being room.
  • Ability to troubleshoot employee requests or problems with equipment and well-being room.
  • Assist Well-being Manager with staffing concerns.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by Wellness Manager or Fitness & Well-being Professional Staff.
  • Attend all certifications or training(s) regarding technology within the well-being room.
  • Attend certification training(s) for well-being, including Mental Health First Aid.
  • Complete Well-being Flourish Trainings.
  • Be receptive to professional and personal development
  • Balance time commitments.
  • Give and receive feedback.
  • Recognize limitations and work to improve in a timely manner.
  • Function as a contributing member of the Campus Recreation team.
  • Act as an extension of professional staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Campus Recreation and well-being.
