What you should expect as a Welding Technician at West Star: This position is hourly, non-exempt that requires a basic knowledge of welding metal objects together to fabricate metal shapes or articles or to repair broken or cracked metal objects. Position will be building/repairing ground support equipment to help facilitate the maintenance and repair of aircraft. Job duties will vary each day and are designated by the Lead, Welding Technician.

Requirements

Education High school diploma or equivalent.
3 or more years of welding experience
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Ability to troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Ability to work with others in a professional manner.
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.

Vocational Schooling preferred

Responsibilities

Setup pre-fitted parts for welding, uses hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures
Work from specifications, drawings, prints, or welding symbols
May perform layout work and cut metal with cutting torch and/or plasma cutter, band saw.
