About The Position

The Welding Technician III is a highly skilled professional responsible for performing advanced welding operations on complex aerospace components and structures. This role requires knowledge of industry standards and specifications, with the ability to advise on work scopes, collaborate with internal departments, and provide training and guidance to other welders.

Requirements

  • 5 years of welding experience. Or an Associate's Degree in a relevant field in lieu of 2 years experience.
  • Prior certifications for welding Titanium, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and data.
  • Ability to operate welding equipment independently and perform high-precision work on complex components.
  • Comprehensive understanding of metal behavior and movement during welding processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years’ Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • AWS D17.1 Certification.
  • Familiarity with heat treatment processes.
  • Blending and finishing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on work scope and collaborating across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced TIG welding on complex aerospace components with precision and adherence to stringent specifications.
  • Advise on work scope for current and potential programs, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Production to develop and refine work scopes and processes.
  • Offer guidance on welding methods and techniques to improve process efficiency and quality outcomes.
  • Provide training and mentorship to welders.
  • Read and follow technical manuals, verbal instructions, blueprints, and work orders daily.
  • Apply repair instructions and/or Engine Manual requirements to restore aircraft components to operational condition.
  • Utilize fixtures, tungsten arc, automatic welding equipment, and hand welding techniques to repair worn or damaged areas, including cracks, on aircraft parts.
  • Weld, blend, grind, and polish weld buildup on worn or defective surfaces to meet quality standards.
  • Work with a variety of aerospace materials such as Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum.
  • Operate specialized welding equipment, including Dabber TIG and Electron Beam machines.
  • Maintain welding certifications in specific welds and materials as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
