About The Position

In this role, you will operate and support automated welding equipment, with a primary focus on electron beam (EB) welding systems. This is a hands-on, shop floor position for someone who enjoys working directly with advanced machinery, learning new technologies, and producing high-quality welds for customers in aerospace, defense, automotive, and energy industries. No prior EB welding experience is required. The company is open to training the right candidate from the ground up. Candidates with experience operating automated welding equipment (such as laser, plasma arc, or friction stir systems), combined with strong mechanical curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow, are highly encouraged to apply. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with one of the most advanced welding technologies used in aerospace and defense.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience operating automated or CNC-controlled equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education such as an Associate’s degree, vocational/trade certification, or technical coursework is a plus. Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with at least one welding technology such as: Laser welding (LBW), plasma arc welding (PAW), friction stir welding (FSW), automated TIG/MIG welding
  • Ability to read technical drawings, work instructions, and weld procedures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in working with precision equipment
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
  • Work authorization in the U.S. (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced or specialized welding systems is a plus
  • Exposure to vacuum systems or high-voltage equipment
  • Welding certifications (e.g., AWS CWI)
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Basic CNC or machine programming experience

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor electron beam welding systems and other automated welding equipment
  • Follow established weld procedures, parameter sheets, and work instructions
  • Perform pre- and post-weld inspections (visual and basic dimensional checks)
  • Support routine maintenance, calibration, and overall equipment readiness
  • Assist in developing and refining welding parameters for new parts and materials
  • Identify and report process deviations or equipment issues
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities
  • Participate in process trials and sample production
  • Support customer visits, demonstrations, and witness testing
  • Gradually assist with equipment commissioning and technical support at customer sites
  • Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation
  • Support compliance with aerospace and defense quality standards
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment
