This position is in the Electric Boat Welding Engineering Laboratory and will focus on supporting the Electric Boat welding procedure qualification and development program. The Electric Boat Welding Laboratory operates a 5000 sq. ft. production space in the Groton CT Shipyard capable of performing all forms of welding used by Electric Boat. The Welding Laboratory is responsible for qualification and revision of all Electric Boat welding procedures, ferrous/non-ferrous metallurgical problem resolution, welding equipment evaluations, fabrication of production/design mock-ups, welding consumable and material evaluation, testing and quality assurance. This position will focus on the development and qualification of structural and pipe welding procedures in accordance with ship and fabrication specification requirements. Responsibilities include ensuring the quality and operability of welding procedures, providing technical support, and developing technical assessments based on welding principles.
