About The Position
Metalcraft of Mayville's West Bend facility is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the position of Welding Lead in the 1st Shift Welding Department. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of both manual and robotic welding processes within the Scag Welding area. The Welding Lead will report directly to the Department Supervisor and will play a key role in overseeing the welding team, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will not only possess strong welding skills but also demonstrate leadership qualities to guide and mentor other welders in the department. In this position, the Welding Lead will be responsible for performing all essential functions of both robotic and manual welding. This includes directing the work activities of the welders, ensuring that production schedules are met, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Welding Lead will also be tasked with keeping the department organized and clean, acting as a role model for the team. Effective communication is vital, as the Welding Lead will need to relay information, assist in problem-solving, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the department. Additionally, the Welding Lead will monitor and maintain all equipment, machines, and supplies, reporting any shortages to the supervisor and performing necessary preventative maintenance. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing more efficient welding operations. The Welding Lead will also be responsible for reading job specifications, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This position may require flexibility in work hours and the ability to assist in various areas of the welding department as production needs arise.
