About The Position

The Welding Engineer position at Electric Boat in Groton, CT involves providing technical guidance to suppliers and internal customers regarding welding and fabrication of components used in the construction of nuclear submarines. Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, or Materials (with a focus on Metallics)
• Five or more years of experience in an industrial welding environment, shipbuilding, or other heavy fabrication

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with basic arc welding processes
• Understanding of the fundamentals of welding metallurgy
• Leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Participate in audits of suppliers performing welding to confirm contractual requirements are being followed at the suppliers location
• Follow up on audit findings and work to adjudicate findings affecting in process and delivered hardware
• Review and approve supplier welding procedures
• Disposition vendor information requests
• Provide welding training/guidance to suppliers
