About The Position

The Welding Engineer is part of our Subsea Technologies Division located in Stafford, TX. A welding engineer has responsibility for providing daily expert technical oversight for welding procedures, weld technicians and associate welding production issues. Also responsible for the managing of welding qualifications, creating and maintaining welding procedures, analyzing designs for welding requirements and reviewing customer welding specifications.

Requirements

  • BS Engineering degree, Mechanical Engineering degree or other from accredited engineering program.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • 4+ year's experience.
  • Strong understanding of industry codes (ASME, API, AWS, DNVGL, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of destructive testing, NDE method and arc welding processes.
  • Experience with welding parameters development, writing WPQR(s) and WPS(s).
  • Extensive knowledge of company welding and PWHT processes and applications.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment methods, applications and effects (weld, HAZ, base material).
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to comply with the company Drug and Alcohol Policy, which includes participation in Company random drug testing.
  • Subject to background checks appropriate to the position.

  • Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng).
  • Practical hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Providing daily expert technical oversight for welding procedures, weld technicians and associate welding production issues.
  • Managing welding qualifications.
  • Creating and maintaining welding procedures.
  • Analyzing designs for welding requirements.
  • Reviewing customer welding specifications.
  • Participates and Leads welding qualifications including weld procedure development, testing plans, review of testing results, writing weld procedures and associated documents, interfacing with customer subject matter experts to finalize weld procedures.
  • Establishing welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes and pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of completes alloys, unusual fabrication method, welding of critical joins and complex post heating requirements.
  • Performs complex welding engineering tasks with minimal supervision and direction from a manager or lead.
  • Initiate and implement improvements, innovations and solutions of welding and PWHT technologies and capabilities.
  • Accountable for quality and compliance of welding documentation.
  • Supports lower-level Welding Engineers.
  • Interface with customer welding and materials SMEs.
  • Support quality assurance with NCRs, complaints, corrective actions, work instructions, etc.
  • Participates in industry technical meeting, certifications, etc. to further professional development.
