About The Position

ALCOM has experienced impressive growth due to a dedicated team focused on producing high-quality aluminum trailers across various categories. Starting with one facility in Winslow, Maine, the company has expanded to four manufacturing plants nationwide. This growth strengthens the dealer network, creates career opportunities, fosters innovation, and improves product delivery with faster turnaround times and lower freight costs. ALCOM manufactures over 160 standard trailer models, including cargo, personal watercraft (PWC), horse and livestock, car haulers, snowmobile, landscape and utility, ATV, and motorcycle trailers, and also customizes solutions for dealers. The Welder position involves performing Aluminum MIG Arc Welding (AMAW) on fixtures, parts, and ramps, with potential for some TIG welding. The successful candidate must be able to read blueprints, follow job orders, and learn specific welding techniques and procedures for aluminum trailers. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining setups, recognizing and ensuring the quality, tolerance, and accuracy of finished trailers, and visually detecting defects. The role receives supervision, inspection, and guidance on new tasks, procedural variations, and difficulties.

Requirements

  • Aluminum welding experience is required. Must pass an aluminum weld test.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure and follow a job order.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Reads job orders and blueprint specifications.
  • Check the blueprint and job order before starting any operation. Refer to the blueprint throughout the day.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Flip the trailer, with the help of a flipper or co-worker, in order to weld the other side of the trailer.
  • Verifies specifications by inspecting completed components.
  • Responsible for the safety of the equipment he/she is using. Responsible for notifying the lead or manager of the need for equipment repairs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Recognize obvious defective or damaged parts, incorrect sizes, faulty workmanship, and general quality. Double check job order to finished product.
  • Evaluates and recommend changes in methods and procedures.
  • Must be able to follow directives and procedures and complete paperwork.
  • Work area must be maintained as clean and organized.
  • Work in compliance with all safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards in accordance with company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Supports all Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 6S and Kaizen events.
