Performs welding for installations, alterations, relocations and assembly of structured steel, fabricated steel assembly as well as modifications as required for welding installations. Responsibilities Performs all mechanical tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings, installation of equipment, supports, piping, assembly, and alignment of equipment. Must keep all materials, tools and equipment in an orderly fashion, maintain a clean work area at all times, demonstrate safe work habits and exhibit proper care of tools and equipment. Understands and complies with Company/job safety requirements (OSHA). Understands and follows federal, state, and local codes. Mains and properly stores tools, materials, and equipment. Takes pride in craftsmanship. Has ability to visualize completed work prior to installation/repair. Has ability to plan, schedule, and organize tasks in an efficient manner in order to meet deadlines. Demonstrates proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials. Leads or assists in all types of welding installations (i.e. preparations, relocation, disassembly/ assembly, alignment, maintenance, piping, etc.). Has ability and skill to fabricate field modifications (i.e. welding, brackets, supports, piping, tubing, fastening, guards, safety railings, etc.). Has ability and skill to install and perform required equipment/welding modifications. Organizes materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work area. Has ability to accurately interpret mechanical, equipment/piping drawings. Has ability and skill to properly level, plumb, align equipment and machinery. Possesses installation knowledge of equipment foundations. Has experience in fluid/gas transfer. Ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply, and use mechanical formulas accurately. Performs work at various heights, up to 90 feet, from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, roofs, or other designated safe work areas. Works in restrictive/tight areas (i.e. mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, utility tunnels, etc.). Ability to dig trenches; either by use of hand tools or equipment. Reads and understands labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately. Possesses knowledge of and ability to properly give “hand signals” to operators. Possesses knowledge of piping layout, fitting, and assembly. Has ability and skill to direct/train helpers and apprentices in proper work practices in order to meet production requirements. Mains personal hand tools per Company policy. Possesses technical knowledge, safety knowledge, and ability to work with live/energized parts.
