About The Position

As a Welder, you will work in a maintenance team and report to a core team leader. The position is a primarily straight day job, subject to mandatory shift work, call outs and overtime. Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License
  • Working knowledge of welding equipment
  • Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Able to work extended hours & call-outs as needed
  • Experience with confined space welding with use of respirator

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of experience in pipe and facility welding
  • 3 or more years in excavations dug by excavating equipment (Backhoes, Trackhoes, etc.); Pipeline repair activity
  • Working experience in Low-Hydrogen Welding
  • Working knowledge of fabrication Isometric, Piping and Structure

Responsibilities

  • Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metals components, or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products or pipe.
  • Read a Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) to produce a weld according to the requirements of the procedure.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions. Ignite torches or start power suppliers, and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
  • Fabricate and construct piping segments and attach fittings that require field fit-up, erection and assembly.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications. Recognize, set-up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
