About The Position

The Tunneling Company Inc. is seeking experienced Welders to support trenchless construction activities on an active field project in Ventura County, California. This is a field-based, project-specific role focused on fitting and welding large-diameter steel casing and related components used in trenchless installations. This position is best suited for welders with proven experience in Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) and AWS D1.1 all-position stick welding, who are comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment and contributing to site operations as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of welding experience in a construction or field environment
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience performing Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
  • AWS D1.1 Certified – All-Position Stick (required)
  • Experience welding large-diameter pipe
  • Ability to successfully pass a welding competency test
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and required health assessments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with additional welding processes such as GMAW and FCAW
  • Previous experience working on trenchless or underground construction projects
  • Safety training including First Aid/CPR, Rigging, or equivalent certifications

Responsibilities

  • Fitting and welding large-diameter steel casing pipe (42” in diameter)
  • Fitting and welding steel components required for trenchless casing installations
  • Performing Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) as the primary welding method
  • Using additional welding processes such as SMAW (stick), GMAW, and FCAW when required
  • Operating pipe beveling equipment and performing oxy-fuel cutting
  • Completing welding, cutting, and grinding tasks safely and efficiently
  • Assisting with rigging, hoisting, and moving materials and equipment on site
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs on welding equipment
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Participating in safety meetings and completing site hazard assessments
