About The Position

Works with a variety of materials to fabricate and repair parts, equipment, construction elements, and much more. Skillful handling of many types of metal (especially stainless steel) as well as numerous fabrication and repair tools. Repair, modify and overhaul equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on Production and Facilities equipment.

Requirements

  • Proven 3 years’ experience in Welding.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending (more than 4 hours of each activity).
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions and blue prints and visually inspect parts and equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools.
  • High mental and visual effort required.
  • Job involves standing most of shift.
  • Ability to lift and push 50 lbs. safely.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to repair machines properly.
  • Technical Skills Hand tools and minimal trades type tools. That which is required for the performance of their work.
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (MIG, TIG, SMAW, OAW etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
  • Good communication skills to communicate with other departments.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts on continuous, seven-day cycle.

Nice To Haves

  • Welder certificate/license will be a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
  • Previous experience in a Food manufacturing environment desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate new metal components in accordance with product data sheets and in compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance.
  • Repair metal components for Maintenance, Production, Sanitation and Warehouse in order to restore full functionality and safety performance.
  • Solve problems and develop innovative solutions to novel situations that require a fresh approach while still maintaining required standards of safety, stability, and security.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to a professional standard.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly to retain a safe and operational work environment.
  • Sets up and operates safely lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Execute particular welds in a professional manner, examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Work independently or with other team members to complete large and complex projects.
  • Manage workflow, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot problems on a daily basis, in addition to fabrication duties.
  • Maintain a personal neat and clean appearance.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Tests equipment to check operation.
  • Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  • Makes preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report’s findings to lead and supervisor, and takes appropriate action.
  • Perform daily data log entries.
  • Notifies maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
  • Complies and enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Complies and enforces food quality and food safety.
  • Ensures equipment is repaired to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Subject to on-call schedule.
  • Must complete assigned PMs and Work Orders by the due date.
