The Welder position is responsible for safely and efficiently welding Company products according to specifications. Key responsibilities include producing high quality work according to work instructions, meeting daily production schedules, demonstrating strong knowledge of welding processes and fixtures, plant organization, safety and continuous improvement. Reports To: Supervisor, Aluminum Products

Requirements

  • Relevant experience welding in a production environment and/or training in a related vocational program
  • Proven ability to interpret and understand work orders/plant drawings/blueprints and properly set-up welding fixtures
  • Proven ability to consistently meet production schedules
  • Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job
  • Basic knowledge of production safety and procedures
  • Basic math and problem solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and consistent attendance
  • Proven ability to recommend process improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organization and safety
  • Experience with both tig and mig aluminum

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interprets work orders to select the correct materials, fixtures and properly set-up their work area to complete the job
  • Performs first piece and random inspections of completed work according to Company quality standards
  • Proactively identifies defects or equipment issues to minimize scrap materials and rework of parts
  • Completes all assigned tasks according to work order estimates and their daily production schedule
  • Identifies the most efficient way to safely complete their scheduled assignments
  • Displays reliable attendance and schedules time-off with advance notice
  • Always correctly uses the proper personal protective equipment
  • Maintains safe work habits and performs required safety inspections according to Company safety procedures
  • Aware of their surroundings and avoids potential hazards or dangerous situations
  • Skilled at all aspects of operating welding equipment, including reading drawings, fixturing, advanced set-up and efficiently transitioning between orders
  • Takes good care of the equipment/ resources under their responsibility and performs preventative maintenance according to schedule
  • Cross trained to skillfully operate a variety of production equipment, cranes and forklifts
  • Maintains a clean/organized work area and promptly removes scrap materials
  • Organizes all tools, fixtures and equipment so they are easily accessible
  • Correctly attaches identifying work orders with the associated completed parts
