GENERAL SUMMARY This position is responsible for welding on a variety of items, which may be subject to heavy stress or load. Usually welding for mechanical strength.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one-year certificate from college or technical school and five years related experience; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for welding a variety of items which may be subject to heavy stress or load. Usually welding for mechanical strength.
  • Responsible for quality of work performed in welding area.
  • Accountable for using caution in handling equipment, tools, and parts.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance of both machinery and plant area, including cleaning and maintenance of welding machines and all tools involved in daily production.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping practices in the welding area.
  • Abides by all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company including good common sense safety practices.
