About The Position

Dickerson & Bowen - Paving the way for growth and development since 1947 D&B is a leading provider of aggregates, asphalt and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. D&B operates four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants and is a natural extension to our recently established Southeast platform, further strengthening our vertically integrated footprint. General Summary This is an entry level welder position that requires a basic knowledge of welding: laying out metal components, cutting, fabricating and welding metal together to repair tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum 1 years of experience of professional welding experience
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Proficient in basic math.
  • Working knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a small hand tools. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
  • Produce metal products according to specifications. (Carbon)
  • Use multiple welding machines to repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various sizes. (Arc, MIG)
  • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects.
  • Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment.
  • Follow safety measures including PPE.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment
  • Ability and willingness to abide by the Company’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis
