About The Position

The Welder is responsible for performing welding, cutting, and fabrication work to support daily operations in a scrap metal recycling facility. This position focuses on equipment repair, structural reinforcement, and fabrication projects related to mobile equipment, stationary processing equipment, containers, and yard infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience with MIG, stick, and torch cutting, can work safely in an industrial outdoor environment, and understands the demands of heavy equipment and recycling operations.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years’ experience as a welder with proficiency in MIG welding, Stick welding.
  • Experience welding heavy gauge steel
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or trade school training are preferred.
  • Welding Certifications preferred
  • MA 2A1C Hoisting licensing a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and stick welding on carbon steel and structural components
  • Torch cut and prepare metal equipment
  • Fabricate and repair: Scrap boxes, containers, and hoppers, guards, brackets, frames, walkways, handrails, and supports
  • Structural repairs on conveyors, balers, and processing equipment
  • Reinforce worn or damaged equipment components to extend service life
  • Assist maintenance team with repairs on: Processing equipment (balers, conveyors, downstream systems), mobile equipment attachments and structural components
  • Support preventive maintenance and emergency repair work as needed
  • Modify or build custom solutions to improve safety or productivity
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety policies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
  • Identify unsafe conditions and report hazards immediately
  • Properly use PPE at all times in yard and plant environments
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM logs, and repair documentation
  • Communicate equipment condition, repair status, and maintenance priorities to supervisors
  • Coordinate closely with operations to minimize production downtime
