About The Position

Welds various components in multiple positions using MIG, TIG, Robotic & Spot-welder and various fixtures.

Requirements

• Ability to read English as required for interpreting job cards and prints.
• Willing to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Self motivated; takes initiative.
• Some heavy lifting involved.
• Must be able to a caliper, protractor and scale.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Completed basic welding course or six months to one year related welding experience.
• Press Room experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Active involvement in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.
• MIG welds various components in multiple positions using wire-feed welding machines and various fixtures. Adjusts gas pressures, changes welding tips, adjusts heat levels in order to achieve proper weld penetration with a minimum of weld spatter.
• TIG welds various components in multiple positions using hand-fed filler metal, using a welding machine and various fixtures. Adjusts gas pressure, changes tips, adjusts heat levels and selects the filler metal in order to achieve good weld penetration.
• Spot Welding; selects electrodes, jigs and fixtures. Selects various settings such as squeeze time, hold time, cool time, top and bottom pressures, weld impulses and weld heat percentage. Operates the elder and performs quality checks on the welds.
• Programs the robotic welder by moving the torch around to various positions on assembly & records positions. Sets voltages, wire feed, & torch travel speeds, gas pre/post flow and crater times. Revises positions & arc start/end values
• Sets up the robotic welder by loading the program and stepping through the program, sequence by sequence, in block mode to check and modify position values. Allocates the program to the proper start box. Welds first good part and takes it to inspection.
• Maintain welding supply inventory.
• Notify supervisor (or lead person) immediately of problems, concerns or questions.
• Keep work area clean and free of hazards.
• Follow special job instructions as communicated by supervisor/lead person & job card.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead person.
