About The Position

Cummings Electrical is hiring a Welder for our Integrated Manufacturing facility in Arlington, TX. Cummings Electrical is expanding our Integrated Manufacturing team. We design and build custom, integrated, modular systems such as e-houses, electrical skids, HAC’s and UL 508A panels for a wide range of projects, including data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial plants, and more. The candidate must be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is required to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, flame-cutting equipment, and brazing and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment to bond metal or repair worn or broken metal parts.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents.
  • Must be eligible to legally work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements
  • Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by engineer
  • Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fills holes
  • Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixtures
  • Select torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material.
  • Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding
  • Ability to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area
  • Perform other duties as assigned
