This position engages in the full scope of MIG weld processes on a variety of structural steel including (but not limited to) rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy rafters, small parts, clips, and special assemblies. Welded parts may include thin gauge, painted, or galvanized material. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of welding techniques and have a high attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment. Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with observed condition of bead Ability to read a tape measure and blue prints to shop standard Ability to decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered Ability to decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn through caused by auto welder Ability to train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures Ability to operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment Responsible for holding bead to specified shape, size and penetrations while maintain the quality of the product Responsible for keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
