This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will be working in varying temperatures of high heat in the summer and cold in the winter preforming the following tasks: Contingencies: Satisfaction of all eligibility requirements as dictated by any customer account or business area that you will be supporting. The eligibility requirements for continued employment in this position include, but may not be limited to, obtaining DBIDS, and access to all shipyards. Further information may be provided under separate cover. Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials that require welding. Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders. Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates. Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Participates in special projects, as required.
