About The Position

Metal Products Inc. or MPI, an ASSA ABLOY branded company located the Rapid City area of South Dakota is looking to add motivated individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to support our production operations. The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating and assembling high-quality steel frames, doors, and components according to specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret blueprints, and a commitment to producing quality workmanship while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This position plays a vital role in ensuring product quality, meeting production goals, and supporting overall manufacturing operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Experience using hand tools, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble steel frames, doors, and related components according to blueprints and specifications.
• Perform MIG and/or TIG welding on various metal thicknesses and configurations.
• Verify measurements, dimensions, and alignments using appropriate tools and templates.
• Inspect completed welds and fabricated parts to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Perform grinding, finishing, and assembly tasks as needed.
• Follow work orders, drawings, and supervisor instructions to ensure product quality.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas to promote safe operations.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
• Support other production activities as needed to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Promote a safe and efficient working environment by following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Assure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
