POSITION SUMMARY: The Welder is responsible for performing welding operations in a manufacturing environment, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in accordance with production specifications. This role may include operating automated equipment, performing manual welding, and working with various materials depending on the area of assignment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – (depending on area of assignment) Champion Lozier’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values by demonstrating the behaviors that contribute to Lozier’s success. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to perform accurate welding operations. Select and set up appropriate welding equipment, tools, and materials. Perform welding operations safely and efficiently, meeting production schedules and quality standards. Inspect completed welds for quality, consistency, and compliance with specifications. Maintain equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance. Follow all safety policies and procedures, including PPE usage and proper handling of materials. Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement process improvements. Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments. Ability to work and interact well with others. Robotic/Process Welder: Operate, monitor, and maintain robotic welding systems. Inspect robotic welds, rework MIG welds, monitor parameters, maintain inspection records. Program robotic welding equipment for automated production runs. Troubleshoot and adjust robot settings to maintain weld quality and production efficiency. Work closely with engineers and technicians to optimize robotic processes. Maintain documentation related to robot operation, maintenance, and quality checks. MIG (GMAW) Welder: Perform MIG welding on components, assemblies, or structures according to specifications. Select appropriate wire, shielding gas, and parameters for the material and application. Ensure welds meet production and quality standards, including appearance and structural integrity. Assist in setup and maintenance of MIG welding equipment. Spot/Resistance Welder: Perform resistance spot welding operations on sheet metal assemblies. Maintain proper electrode alignment, pressure, and timing to ensure consistent weld quality. Monitor equipment for wear and performance issues, performing basic maintenance as needed. Work in accordance with production schedules and maintain high safety standards.
