About The Position

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, has an immediate position available for a Welder in Fairbanks, AK! In this position you will do a few different things, but your main duties will include welding, fabricating and compactor repair. This is a full-time, long-term position with a great company. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and are a self-motivated, hardworking individual with good communication skills, we want to talk to you. The schedule is a 5-8's schedule. It will be either Monday - Friday, 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. Saturdays and Sundays off. The pay will be $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, with regular wage increases. Tool allowance of $1,200 per year and boot allowance of $200.00 per year.

Requirements

  • Hydraulic and electrical experience.
  • Experienced in Stick and MIG welding and using a cutting torch.
  • Ability to drive a forklift and other trucks in the yard.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and repair of trash/compactor containers.
  • Conduct compactor repairs and trash trucks metal repair in our fleet.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks and work as a team.
  • Assist with roll cart delivery to local customers.
