About The Position

The Schuff Steel Production Welder plays a crucial role in the fabrication process, utilizing advanced welding techniques to construct complex structures and bridges. This position requires proficiency in various welding methods and the ability to work with a wide range of materials, ensuring high-quality workmanship in compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 12 months of stable work experience
• Must pass a required weld test
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
• Cert in AWS D1.1 weld test
• Knowledge of a variety of hand tools and welding equipment

Nice To Haves

• Experience with uncommon structural metals or machine metals
• Familiarity with Kronos for timekeeping

Responsibilities

• Follows applicable welding procedures (AWS, AISC)
• Welds on ground level, above ground, and below ground, in any required position
• Chips, peens, and grinds material to prepare for welding or finish
• Welds structural, bridge, and industrial materials such as plates, sheets, girders, tanks, etc.
• Performs gouging and scarfing as needed
• Capable of passing welding test in accordance with AWS D1.1
• Transports material by crane as needed and required
• Keeps work area organized and clean
• Performs other routine duties per management direction
• Adheres to and follows all safety rules and PPE requirements
