Responsibilities

• Strike arcs to melt and deposit metal from electrodes to work pieces.
• Manually guide electrodes or guns along weld lines to form specified depths of fusion and beads.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
• Apply filler rods manually to supply weld metal.
• Clean and degrease weld joints or work pieces.
• Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
• Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
• Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
