Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • GMAW (Spray Arc Transfer) welding experience preferred.
  • Basic Math skills required.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Ability to read blueprints required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform production within prescribed codes, and according to prescribed procedures, specifications, and drawings.
  • Pass and qualify a GMAW 2G weld test that meets visual acceptance criteria before being offered a Welder position.
  • Maintain regular and on-time attendance.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of general safety guidelines; Sabre specific safety guidelines will be taught on site.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work independently with minimal supervision on assignments as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Read and interpret drawings (weld symbols) to determine required weld sizes for specific weld joints.
  • Adjust welding machines within parameters of welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Frequently push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Use oxy-fuel torch to pre-heat parts to be welded in accordance with welding procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Use GMAW welding process to weld components or assemblies.
  • Visually inspect work to ensure that welds comply with applicable drawings and code requirements.
  • Assist fitter in assembling pole assembly when called upon.
