About The Position

The Welder/Mechanic/Machinist position primarily involves maintaining Marion walking draglines and assisting in the repair of mobile equipment and coal processing facilities. The role requires performing welding duties on all mine equipment, including coal haulers and track-type earthmovers. The candidate must be capable of working at heights, specifically on elevated boom points and tri-structures of draglines. Mechanical experience will encompass working on heavy, open, and enclosed gear systems for draglines, including repair and overhaul. Additionally, machinist/millwright experience and the ability to troubleshoot lubrication systems are desirable assets. Licensed mobile crane experience is also preferred. This position requires working multiple shifts and being available for call-outs on a 24-hour basis. The work environment varies and includes exposure to dust, noise, and adverse weather conditions.

Requirements

• Dragline mechanical repair experience or equivalent.
• Strong working mechanical knowledge for dragline heavy gear box repair and overhauls.
• Demonstrated awareness and understanding of work-related safety practices.
• Physical capability to work at heights above 50 feet.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting of 50 lbs. or more.
• Capability to work in confined areas and in awkward positions requiring prolonged bending or kneeling.
• Valid driver’s license throughout the duration of employment.
• Meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider.
