Position Summary: The position requires the ability to learn and operate multiple types of welding and test equipment (Tig welding, welding power supplies, leak detection equipment, borescope, buffing/grinding equipment, and appropriate inspection gauges). The position also requires the ability to learn system assembly operations and pass certification testing for operations such as fitting assembly, tube bending, leak testing, Tig welding, and others. The ability to correct and identify problems and make appropriate judgment calls based on experience is required. The welder must demonstrate a high attention to detail that is balanced by the ability to meet production demands. In addition, the associate needs to be comfortable working with low volume orders that do not provide a high degree of standard work, without sacrificing the high Swagelok quality standards. Many projects must be made to the print within the limits of the certification assembly programs and require working with engineers and others to define the welding / assembly process while the work is being done.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of applicable Welding experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • EN ISO 9606-01 qualified
  • Coded stainless steel TIG welder with experience using stainless.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily / weekly PM
  • Identifies / able to correct when there is a problem with the welding - fabrication issues including external finish, internal / external dimensions, concentricity / alignment / angularity and material defects
  • Understands and has the ability to weld common process sheet parts.
  • Demonstrates the competency to successfully complete the set-up within the targeted time and successfully achieves production target times
  • Passes required ASME / ISO qualifications
  • Able to identify visual criteria and features for all applicable parts
  • Can use the schedule to make decisions
  • Demonstrates solid shop math skills
  • Understands and applies the proper welding principal relationships.
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, ruler, digital protractor, height gage, bore scopes and functional gages
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
  • Able to interpret WPS and PQR
  • Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments
  • Able to hydrostatic pressure test weld assembly’s
  • Understanding of Saws / tube cutting equipment.
  • Ability to cut and bend tubing to drawing.
