About The Position

The Welder III position is responsible for performing various welding tasks including positioning parts in jigs or fixtures, selecting appropriate welding equipment, and interpreting technical drawings. The role requires the ability to weld, braze, and cut various materials such as nitronics, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and SAE 4130 steels according to blueprint specifications. The welder will also examine welds for quality, maintain a clean work area, and complete assigned tasks to support department objectives. The position is based in Burnsville, MN, and requires a U.S. Person status.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a HS Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
  • Previous welding experience in a manufacturing or service environment.
  • Gas tungsten arc welding education/experience.
  • Aluminum welding education/experience.
  • Mild and stainless steel welding education/experience.

Nice To Haves

  • AAS degree in electronics and/or prior military experience strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years experience with aviation manufacturing or repair is preferred.
  • 2+ years complimentary work history in a manufacturing or service environment.
  • Holds or has ability to obtain Preliminary MRB authorization.
  • Experience reviewing CMM/SB documentation and creating mark-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or welding positions.
  • Select torch, torch tips, filler rods, and fluxes prescribed by blueprints.
  • Connect valves and bases to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders.
  • Set prescribed amperage, gas flow, speeds, and feeds to obtain desired welds.
  • Hold torches at proper angles to joints to be welded.
  • Apply filler rods to molten area to form welds.
  • Interpret schematics and/or technical drawings.
  • Weld, braze, and cut various materials according to specifications.
  • Examine welds for bead size, penetration, and other specifications.
  • Grind off excess slag or spatter.
  • Clean parts using solvent.
  • Repair welds by referring to rejection sheets and interpreting x-ray sheets.
  • Utilize microelectronic, electronic, optical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct written and verbal communication with technicians and leadership.
  • Report work progress and updates to lead or supervisor.
  • Work in a team to support work capacity in a fast-paced environment.
