About The Position

Essential Duties/Responsibilities Ensure that welding of assemblies is in accordance with the shop drawings, and that the work routers are properly signed and dated. Ensure that all steps, inspections, and other instructions as shown on the work order are followed and documented. Ensure that material and part identification is maintained. Maintain welding equipment. Control welding electrodes, gas, and other supplies as required. Ensure all welds are properly cleaned after welding, and base metal is properly cleaned before welding. Ensure that welding is done in accordance with Vital Link Inc. welding procedures, project specifications, and the standards of the American Welding Society (AWS). Ensure that proper equipment, procedures, supplies, and materials are available and utilized in the execution of welding. Set up basic weldments to facilitate fast quality welding. Ensure that appropriate safety practices, equipment, and gear is used. Ensure that all problems with equipment and machinery are promptly reported to the Supervisor or Maintenance Department for corrective action. Halt production on equipment and machinery if they cannot be safely operated. Special Requirements Must be able to pass a standard AWS test in the horizontal (2G) for 3/8” and vertical (3G), for structural steel in the size of 3/8”. Position requires knowledge of steel and sheet metal fabrication and welding, specifically welding procedures, and the operation of welding equipment. Also requires the ability to read the welding requirements of fabrication drawings and work orders. Responsible to ensure that all welding machines, supplies, equipment, and gear, and the weld-out area in general, are kept in a neat and orderly manner. Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Vital Link International Standards Organization (ISO9000) policies.

Requirements

Must be able to pass a standard AWS test in the horizontal (2G) for 3/8” and vertical (3G), for structural steel in the size of 3/8”.
This position requires the physical capability to perform welding work, moderate to heavy lifting.
Position requires knowledge of steel and sheet metal fabrication and welding, specifically welding procedures, and the operation of welding equipment.
Also requires the ability to read the welding requirements of fabrication drawings and work orders.
