About The Position

Delta Star Inc. is seeking a motivated and safety-driven Welder I to support welding and fabrication activities under the guidance of higher-level welders. If you’re eager to build foundational welding skills, learn blueprint reading, and contribute to high-quality transformer manufacturing, we want to hear from you! As a Welder I, you’ll assist experienced welders with basic fabrication tasks, material preparation, and component positioning. You’ll learn welding processes, equipment operation, and documentation requirements—all while supporting a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical.
  • Ability to operate an overhead crane (training provided).
  • Ability to read or learn to read blueprints.
  • Ability to identify welding wire types.
  • Ability to perform weld tests and minor repairs with assistance.
  • Ability to read a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) with support.
  • Must pass the following tests: 3G FCAW, 1G SMAW with E7018.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to PPE compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced welders with basic fabrication tasks, material preparation, and component positioning.
  • Learn welding processes, equipment operation, and documentation requirements.
  • Support a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Read blueprints with support.
  • Prepare materials for welding.
  • Clean spatter and slag.
  • Help position and clamp components.
  • Assist with brazing and arc-welding tasks.
  • Operate cranes under supervision.
  • Complete basic cutting and grinding work.
  • Document work properly.
  • Support rework or inspections as needed.
  • Read blueprints, lay out materials, and assist with welding assignments under guidance.
  • Clean refuse, spatter, slag, and tack marks.
  • Use an assigned stencil to properly label work and components.
  • Assist in welding using various welder types and materials.
  • Support brazing and arc-welding processes.
  • Operate an overhead crane under supervision; set up the pendant and assist with rigging.
  • Perform thermal cutting, grinding, and related tasks.
  • Complete DIRs and required paperwork with support.
  • Assist with repairs on broken or cracked parts and build up worn areas.
  • Assist welding headers under supervision.
  • Identify required gases for basic welding operations.
  • Operate cold saw (band saw) and iron worker.
  • Position and clamp metal components for welding.
  • Assist with weld-cover installation on tanks.
  • Support rework and initial inspection activities.
