About the position

The Welder-Fabricator is responsible for skillfully using various techniques and tools to shape, join, and manipulate metal materials, under the direction of the Engineering Manager. They will work with technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications in order to create metal structures and products. Attention to detail is crucial in this job, as even small mistakes can compromise the integrity of the finished product.

Responsibilities

  • Work with different welding techniques such as TiG and MiG welding to weld a variety of metals, such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Perform tube and pipe welding.
  • Build simple and complex fabrications based on prints such as Decks, Railing, Frames, Piping and Hoppers from sheet metal and plate.
  • Work with other machines such as an ironworker and saw, ensuring correct punches based on material thickness and type.
  • Check work using scales, square, template, or samples to ensure it matches the cut list, and deburr all parts.
  • Complete a weld test, which will include 2G and 2F positions on mild steel and stainless steel, using MIG, TIG, and fluxcore.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in a welding and metal fabrication environment.
  • Experience with TiG and MiG welding.
  • Experience with small and large, complex fabrication.
  • Experience using various hand-tools, power tools, and load-moving equipment (i.e. pallet jack, dolly, forklift, etc.).
  • Experience using precision measuring hand tools (calipers, micrometers).
  • Satisfactory results from a pre-employment fit-for-duty screen and a drug screen.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to self-manage behavior.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret supplied documentation and instructions (including blueprints).
  • The desire to learn other trades as part of project build designs, plumbing, electrical, piping.
  • Light machining skills.
