We’re committed to serving our community with high-quality construction and landscape materials—and we’re currently looking for a skilled Welder and Fabricator with some Heavy Equipment Operating experience to join our team at Stony Point Rock Quarry, our quarry and aggregate recycling facility located in Cotati, California. What You’ll Do & What We’re Looking For In this role, you will support daily quarry operations through hands-on welding and fabrication—utilizing stick and MIG welding, plasma cutting, and oxygen-acetylene torching—to repair and maintain plant equipment and structures. You will also operate heavy equipment to support material handling, site maintenance, and plant cleanup. Your work is essential to maintaining safe, efficient, and continuous production. This position requires recent, hands-on heavy equipment operating experience in a production environment such as mining, quarrying, or construction. Key responsibilities include: Perform welding and fabrication using stick and MIG welding, plasma cutting, and oxygen-acetylene torching. Execute real-world repairs, modifications, and fabrication work to support operations and minimize downtime (beyond blueprint reading). Operate a variety of heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer, water truck, front-end loaders, excavators) to support mining, material transport, stockpiling, sorting or mixing, and general plant and site cleanup. Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform preventive maintenance (pre- and post-operation). Assist with plant and yard maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operations. Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment in alignment with company safety standards. Work Schedule This is a full time, on-site position at Stony Point Rock Quarry: Location: 7171 Stony Point Road, Cotati, CA Classification: Hourly, non-exempt Schedule: Monday–Friday, starting at 6:00 AM Shift: 8 hours per day, with some overtime. Pay range: $27 - $32/hour. Please note: Soiland does not provide relocation assistance, mileage reimbursement, or lodging for this role. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance or be prepared to relocate at their own expense. At least 1+ year of recent experience operating heavy equipment in a production environment such as mining, quarrying, or construction on a skid-steer, water truck, front end loader, haul truck, excavator, dozer, or motor grader. Proven track record of safe and competent operation of the required equipment. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available). Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to safely perform physical labor (e.g., shoveling, lifting, climbing). Comfortable working at heights with appropriate fall protection. Strong spatial awareness when working near other people or structures. Reliable, punctual, and committed to safety. Effective verbal communication skills in English. Able to work independently and in a team-based, outdoor environment.
