A Welder-Fabricator is responsible for producing and assembling stainless steel components, structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools according to blueprints, employer and customer specifications. Welder-Fabricator sets up, operates and maintains welding equipment.

  • Weld and fabricate projects according to specifications and direction from Lead and Senior Lead Welders-Fabricators and Production Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are completed accurately and in accordance with GEM Equipment quality standards.
  • Complete requisition slips for any materials not called out for a specific job to ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Complete any required paperwork for assigned projects.
  • Communicate with lead workers and supervisors to ensure accuracy of work product.
  • Possess all basic tools from tool list.
  • Possess protective equipment

  • Follow directions and ability to work independently.
  • Exhibit good productivity and quality of workmanship.
  • Be punctual, responsible and dependable.
  • Proper use of fabrication tools and safety equipment.
  • Work as a team member with other employees and departments.
  • Communicate clearly and directly with supervisor with questions or concerns.
  • Maintain good safety record and observe safety awareness.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Stainless Steel Welding skills:
  • MIG Welding – Hard wire plus fluxcore
  • TIG Welding – Self-sufficient capability
  • Fabrication skills:
  • Ability to do layout
  • Ability to put together small projects including frames and handrails
  • Blueprint reading skills:
  • Basic blueprint reading including understanding of basic signs
  • Ability to learn and understand the GEM Equipment print system including materials list, ballooning, title block and scales
  • Field work (if assigned):
  • Ability to develop rigging skills
  • Develop knowledge of other field skills and situational awareness
