About The Position

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks on diesel trucks and heavy equipment. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and attention to detail to ensure the safety, durability, and functionality of all fabricated components. The Welder/Fabricator works closely with mechanics, shop personnel, and project managers to support equipment maintenance and modifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in welding or fabrication preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in welding and fabrication, preferably with diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong knowledge of welding procedures, metal properties, and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to operate welding machines, torches, and cutting equipment.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Attention to detail to ensure high-quality welding and fabrication work.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate welding equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work in various positions, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, hot surfaces, and heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication on diesel trucks, heavy equipment, and structural components.
  • Utilize various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components according to technical specifications and blueprints.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, cutting tools, and fabrication machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment and report any necessary repairs.
  • Ensure that all welding and fabrication tools are in proper working condition.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Wear protective gear such as welding masks, gloves, and safety shoes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards and ensure efficiency.
  • Work closely with mechanics, equipment operators, and project managers to support repair and fabrication needs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to fabricate components accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
