About The Position

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT In this role you will be responsible for the fabrication and welding of various gauge steel products such as aluminum, stainless, and mild steel. You will also be responsible for evaluating all engineering drawings and ensuring implementation according to welding specifications, performing all work with the help of forming, cutting, and welding equipment. Operate fabricating machines such as rolls, shears, formers, iron workers, and flame cutting tools. Cut, layout, fit, measure, and weld metals to create the desired shape or object. Inspect and test welds for durability as well as meet specified standards. Apply basic math skills and mechanical aptitude. Use a variety of tools such as hand tools, angle grinders, die grinders, and more. Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material. Be able to square and hold square the work piece while fabrication/welding. Review and understand electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and make adjustment. Effectively communicate with Central Repair Shops supervision, other engineering personnel, area department supervision. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance, service, and fabrication duties; follow all plant policies, environmental policies, and plant and departmental safety policies. Must be certified to operate a Fork Lift through the Safety Department. Accurately and correctly record job time and accurately record/ sign­ in service/ attendance time. Maintain a clean and orderly work space and maintain all equipment to like new appearance according to maintenance plans and procedures. Follow all plant and environmental policies as well as plant and departmental safety policies Follow the internal ESH work instructions in the daily work Demonstrate exemplary personal behavior in ESH and motivate others Ensure immediate notification and response, and initiate preventive measures in case of unsafe or polluting hazards Adapt to different tasks and support various stages of production as needed Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Department Manager

Requirements

  • AAS Degree or Certificate in Fabricating/Welding Technology or a high school diploma/GED with completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of machining experience; strong mechanical and industrial skills, or equivalent of experience and school.
  • Knowledge of specific welding processes, such as TIG, MIG, and ARC.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity
  • Medium to heavy work. Exposure to heat and dust. Must be able to stand for long periods, frequently stoop, twist, bend, walk long distances, climb stairs/ladders, and lift 50 or more pounds occasionally. Not afraid to get dirty. Full range of motion in both hands and arms with the ability to use both hand and powered tools. Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts.
