The position involves assembling and welding complex metal assemblies at Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems. The role is critical in driving innovation and maintaining high standards of business ethics, allowing employees to make a meaningful impact in a supportive environment.

  • Assembles and welds complex metal assemblies using welding, soldering, and brazing equipment.
  • Receives and interprets oral and written instructions, blueprints, and material orders.
  • Shapes metal parts to specifications using tools such as bending rollers, grinders, and wrenches.
  • Assembles parts by clamping them together with bolts, blocks, C-clamps, and vises.
  • Performs arc welding by connecting electrodes to the generator and moving the electrode along the seam.
  • Executes gas welding by heating metal and applying a welding rod with an acetylene torch.
  • Brazes joints by applying flux and heating with a gas torch to flow brazing metal into the joint.
  • Dip brazes by preheating materials and dipping them in a brazing solution.
  • Solders joints using a soldering iron or gas torch and solder.
  • Examines and measures completed assemblies for conformance to specifications using scales and micrometers.
  • Lifts assemblies onto skids using block and tackle when necessary.
  • Cuts metal to shape using a flame cutting machine.
  • Directs activities of assemblers assisting in the construction of large assemblies.
  • Packs and unpacks materials as necessary and directs activities of others assisting on the job.
  • May perform welding operations on models as assigned.
  • May be required to set up and operate spot welding equipment.
  • Ability to weld using arc, gas, and spot welding methods and equipment.
  • Experience performing qualification test welds.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Experience with performance qualification test welds with MIL. STD. 278 and 2219.
  • Experience with GTAW and SMAW welding processes on aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper-nickel.
  • Experience with performance qualification test samples in accordance with NAVSEA 0900-LP-001-7000 using the torch brazing process.
