About The Position

The Welder position is a full-time role on the 2nd shift, with various levels of responsibility and compensation based on experience. The job involves performing TIG welding on aluminum and steel parts, adhering to compliance requirements, and maintaining safety standards. The position includes opportunities for training and mentoring within the career path, as well as performing inspections and audits to ensure quality and compliance with FAA and Piper operational requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a welding program or 2 years' experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass required weld certification per AWS D17.1.
  • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Use of hand and power tools as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in structural welding of complex aluminum, stainless steel, and steel parts.
  • Experience in mentoring and training teammates.
  • Familiarity with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG welding of aluminum and steel parts.
  • Inspect and buy off own work using Piper inspection certifications.
  • Adhere to departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
  • Partner with senior teammates to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training.
  • Perform duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Conduct training and cross-training of teammates to attain acceptable levels of performance.
  • Assist in addressing departmental quality concerns and troubleshooting discrepancies.
  • Perform audits of areas within the department as required.
