Weld Technologist – East Peoria, IL Primary Location : East Peoria, IL (LL) Travel : Up to 5% Relocation : Domestic relocation assistance available Visa Sponsorship : Not available for this position Job Summary Join our Fabrication Group as a 1st Shift Weld Technologist and play a key role in shaping the manufacturing processes behind Caterpillar’s welded structures. You’ll apply advanced welding technologies and oversee tooling, equipment, and process design to ensure quality and efficiency in production.

Requirements

  • Quality Management : Familiarity with continuous improvement tools, walkthroughs, inspections, and QA techniques.
  • Metal Fabrication : Ability to design, supervise, and analyze fabrication processes and costs.
  • Manufacturing Safety : Knowledge of OSHA standards; ability to perform safety inspections and promote compliance.
  • Production Systems : Experience with complex production systems and troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.
  • Experience with ABB, Fanuc, and Kawasaki programming; offline programming preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems and related applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain manufacturing processes for welding metal parts in required configurations.
  • Oversee welding operations using manual and automatic systems to ensure safe and accurate fabrication.
  • Examine and resolve defects in work pieces using appropriate technologies and tools.
  • Adhere to quality assurance policies to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, and production to optimize welding outcomes.
