About The Position

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify. The Non-Destructive Weld Inspector will provide weld inspection and quality assurance services in support of the Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC) Mission Support IDIQ contract. This position is responsible for performing non-destructive testing (NDT), quality audits, and inspections of welds, fabrications, and repairs to ensure all products meet applicable military, federal, and contractual specifications and standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience performing NDT and weld inspections in industrial, depot, or heavy equipment settings.
  • Strong knowledge of military and federal specifications, quality standards, and inspection methodologies.
  • Capable of executing and documenting quality audits and inspections across multiple production disciplines.
  • Proficient in drafting detailed technical reports and maintaining accurate inspection records.
  • Basic computer skills for reports, email, audits, and documentation.
  • High attention to detail; strong analytical skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Willing and able to work in industrial, field, and office environments.
  • Must meet Cherokee Federal pre-employment qualifications.
  • Current Level II certification in NDT methods: Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Radiography, and Eddy Current.
  • Fully knowledgeable in radiography safety requirements.
  • Certified Production Inspector (CPI) certification.
  • Ability to maintain all required certifications throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive weld and fabrication inspections to verify conformity with military and federal standards across operational testing, production procedures, and processes.
  • Exercise expert judgment to make acceptance decisions when inspection requirements are not fully defined.
  • Conduct quality audits of production operations, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with work orders, documented procedures, and rebuild standards.
  • Execute visual, dimensional, functional, and operational inspections on wheeled vehicles, engineering equipment, combat/tracked vehicles, and related sub‑assemblies, components, and systems (including hydraulics, hoisting equipment, painting, and fire suppression).
  • Research and interpret technical manuals, statements of work, rebuild standards, and inspection criteria to perform accurate inspections and audits.
  • Verify that all repairs and production operations (machining, shaping, assembly, handling, routing, storage, etc.) are completed under controlled conditions.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, document discrepancies, maintain records, and drive follow‑up corrective actions.
  • Coordinate preparation, presentation, and communication of inspection and quality information with government stakeholders.
  • Support and comply with MDMC’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment used for nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Other duties as assigned.
