Requirements

  • Engineering Diploma or a Mechanical Technologist or Trades Certification or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 Years experience in an automotive welding environment.
  • Understanding automotive Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Full knowledge of Statistics, Geometric Dimension & Tolerance and blueprint reading.
  • Understanding of the usage and design concepts for part inspection fixtures.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively within team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Maintain weld drawings.
  • Flexible working hours with some travel required.
  • PLC Knowledge (Robotron, A/B, Modicon & Medar).
  • Knowledge of programming/teaching robots (Fanuc).
  • Strong mig welding applications
  • FMEA (Failure Mode Effects and Analysis) of welding process
  • OSHA Knowledgeable (Safety requirements).
  • Previous applicable work experience.
  • Must have computer and lab equipment knowledge.
  • Involves physical activity, which occasionally requires strenuous activity.
  • Involves frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs often combined with bending, twisting and reaching.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the shift Weld Technicians
  • Teaching /training production and Maintenance employees on robotic welding procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with engineering, production, maintenance, HR and material control support groups.
  • Conduct all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive leadership practices of building trust, empowerment, competitiveness, and personal responsibility.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on new weld assembly processing.
  • Troubleshooting robot and Mig Arc welding assembly equipment.
  • Developing weld parameters, weld penetration structural, quality for engine cradles and rear suspension cradles.
  • Supervise and manage the weld lab and the associated equipment and record keeping
  • Develop work instructions, process improvements, routings fit and tack and weld procedures.
  • Supervise and certify production operators in robotic mig welding techniques.
  • Solve welding and robot programming problems
  • Participate in APQP processes design weld assembly work cells.
  • Recommend design changes to improve quality and reliability and productivity.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Montezuma Manufacturing.
  • Promote continuous improvement.
  • Set up and program robots for production
  • Certify welds to meet Customer standards and maintain weld records.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Know and practice Montezuma Mfg. Quality and Environmental policies.
